Why UAE traders choose Deriv

Many brokers that take clients from the UAE are regulated only abroad. Deriv's edge is that it pairs a local licence with dirham deposits and a very low minimum. Here is how it compares with a typical offshore broker:

Feature Deriv in the UAE Typical offshore broker
UAE licence Yes — CMA-licensed Dubai company Licensed abroad, if at all
If something goes wrong Complain to a UAE regulator Overseas regulator, if any
Deposit currency UAE dirham (AED) Usually USD or EUR
Minimum deposit AED 15 Varies
Swap-free account Yes, on MT5 Not always
Negative balance protection Yes Not always
Arabic support Yes Varies

Worth weighing: trading is on MT5 only, and no broker is cheapest on every instrument — Deriv included. Spreads and overnight swaps vary, so compare the total cost on the pairs you actually trade.

Why gold trading draws UAE traders

Gold is one of the world's most traded markets, and it rarely sits still: US interest-rate news, the dollar and world events can move it USD 20–50 in a day. With a CFD you can trade those moves in either direction — that is what makes gold exciting, and why it needs a plan.

Trade rises and falls

Buy if you expect gold to rise, sell if you expect it to fall.

Start from 1 ounce

0.01 lot is 1 oz, so each USD 1 move is USD 1 of profit or loss.

Nearly 24 hours

Gold trades almost around the clock, Monday to Friday.

Simple in dirhams

The dirham is pegged at 3.6725 to the US dollar, so there is no extra currency risk.

Here is how one gold trade works, with the stop-loss and take-profit set before you enter:

Reward : risk
2 : 1
If gold rises USD 30 +USD 300 ≈ +AED 1,100
If gold falls USD 15 −USD 150 ≈ −AED 550

Illustrative only — not a real trade, a live price or a forecast. A stop-loss caps the planned loss, but in a fast market a trade can close at a worse price than the level you set.

Metals traders can also open a dedicated MT5 Gold account. Its costs are built into the spread (from 25 pips), and overnight swaps may apply.

Forex hours in UAE time

Alongside gold, Deriv lists 50+ currency pairs — majors like EUR/USD, minors like EUR/GBP and exotics like USD/THB. Most open at 01:10 on Monday and close at 00:55 on Saturday, UAE time, so the market's weekend lines up with the UAE's.

SatCloses 00:55UAE weekend

Cryptocurrencies and derived indices trade 24/7, weekends included.

There is a short daily break from 00:59 to 01:10. From early November to mid-March, after US clocks go back, all of these times move one hour later. The busiest stretch is roughly 16:00–20:00 UAE time, when the London and New York sessions overlap.

What it costs

  • Spread. No commission on forex — the spread is the main cost.
  • Overnight swaps. Charged or credited on Standard and Gold accounts. The Swap-free account waives them, though admin fees may apply after five days.
  • Deposits and withdrawals. AED 15 to AED 50,000 per transaction by Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Skrill or Neteller. Deriv covers third-party transaction fees.

Leverage cuts both ways. At 1:1000, USD 10 of margin controls a USD 10,000 position — and a 1% move against you costs USD 100. Negative balance protection means you can't lose more than your balance, but you can lose all of it.
